Job Description Job Description Purchasing Specialist Location: Baton Rouge, LA Pay: $24/hr Contract: 6-week contract with potential contract-to-hire Company: LHH (on assignment with a leading industrial services organization) LHH is seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to support a major industrial construction organization in Baton Rouge. This role is ideal for someone with experience in construction purchasing or a strong administrative background with exposure to procurement, logistics, or vendor coordination. We're looking for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys cross-team collaboration, and is committed to accuracy and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Source and procure materials, equipment, and supplies for construction projects Collaborate closely with project managers and site supervisors to meet project demands Prepare and issue purchase orders in an ERP system with accuracy and completeness Coordinate deliveries, shipping, and vendor communication Resolve issues related to shortages, late deliveries, and order discrepancies Monitor and update order status; reconcile received goods Support compliance with internal controls and purchasing policies Negotiate pricing, terms, and vendor agreements Qualifications 2-4 years of purchasing experience (construction preferred but not required) Strong administrative or procurement support background is also a great fit Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment Knowledge of construction materials or equipment is a plus Experience with SOX controls or accounting procedures is helpful Ability to work effectively with both office and field personnel What Makes This Role a Great Opportunity Competitive $24/hr pay rate Opportunity to transition from contract to full-time Work with a collaborative, supportive team in a well-established industrial environment Fast-paced role where you can make an immediate impact Pay Details: $24.00 per hour Search managed by: Abigail Revalee Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
