Job Description:

Under the general direction of the Cancer Center and Breast Center Director, the Breast Care Center Practice Manager is accountable for the effective management and delivery of care to patients with breast problems. This position will be responsible for creating systems that facilitate communication, coordination, and collaboration among disciplines in the provision of breast care services. The Breast Care Center Practice Manager works within a multidisciplinary team in the provisions of these breast care services. This position will provide input into the preparation of operating and capital budgets for the Breast Care Center; development of marketing plans; and maintaining knowledge of reimbursement regulations. The Breast Care Center Practice Manager will effectively communicate with medical faculty and staff in planning for change and providing optimal patient care services. Key responsibilities include patient care, development of systems of care for the program, staff development and education, team building and support of quality improvement programs. The Breast Care Center Practice Manager will continually work closely with the Breast Care Center Medical Director, Breast Care Center Program Director, Specialty Managers/Leaders and affiliated staff for the coordination and implementation of new procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Helps establish/implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems for the clinic.2. Demonstrate leadership skills of: critical thinking, conflict management, negotiation and motivation, and personnel development.3. Provide day-to-day direction and coordination of the breast care services; ensuring the services are oriented towards patient care, comfort and convenience.4. Monitor flow of patients, work to resolve patient delays, plan and /or create systems that allow for patient to have access to services in a timely manner.5. Develop and implement an ongoing process for problem-solving.6. Facilitated and participate in development of strategic planning and implementation of the goals for the Comprehensive Breast Care Center.7. Adjust and improve systems as necessary to respond to changing health care environment to meet cost effective quality care.8. Stay abreast of new technology in breast care related equipment and supplies; act as a resource to other disciplines.9. Remain current on new treatments for breast cancer.10. Work with providers and staff to identify issues of mutual concern, solve problems, review staffing plans and overall operations of the Comprehensive Breast Care Center.11. Develop and support an environment in which staff learning is supported and stimulated.12. Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient education programs that assure quality and appropriateness of care across settings (i.e. inpatient, ambulatory).13. Coordinating and implementing community outreach events.14. Develops, monitors, and analyzes budget and financial information and utilizes all resources in an effective and economical manner.15. Demonstrate knowledge of the practice management system.16. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, manage care and other third-party payors guidelines; adjust clinic billing procedures accordingly.17. Responsible for being up-to-date and knowledgeable with regard to diagnostic and procedure coding, and how it affects reimbursement.18. Reviews and updates forms used within the practice. Standardizes when possible.19. Evaluate issues effecting center productivity and effectiveness.20. Reviews budget variances. (Daily and monthly reviews revenue and expense budget variances and develops an action plan).21. Management of daily work schedules and accurate completion of payroll.22. Identifies problems which interfere with center and develops an action plan for resolution.23. Consults with/reports to Medical Director and Program Director.24. Track lost and delayed orders for supplies and materials.25. Access data to effectively manage center operations.26. Conduct audits for billing and create solutions to limit over or under billing of services.27. Understands and participates in the Health Systems quality process and develops a center monitoring system to assure quality.28. Maintain National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), American College of Radiology (ACR), MQSA, FDA and other quality initiatives. 29. Responsible for completing SARs.30. Conduct annual audits of various components of the accreditation bodies.31. Coordinate scheduling of all staff and physicians32. Develops and implements staffing standards for center with effective, economical use of resources.33. Helps supervise, hire, transfer, promote, assign, reward, counsel, disciplines, and discharge appropriate employees of the center according to the policies and procedures.34. Develops and monitors center standards.EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:1. A minimum of bachelor degree, masters preferred. 2. 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience (including ICD and CPT coding)3. Maintain National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), American College of Radiology (ACR), MQSA, FDA 4. Experience with care of breast disease patients is highly desired5. Must possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians and other medical professionals. 3. Must possess communication skills necessary to interface with physicians, employees, patients, and general public in a tactful, confidential and diplomatic manner.6. Must have problem solving skills, creativity, initiative, patience, and analytical ability.7.
