SUMMARY:Responsible for the oversight of daily operations of PFS Patient Accounting functions relating to timely Billing and Collection functions focusing on A/R improvement. Works in coordination with Access, Diagnostics, and Accounts Receivable billing and collection supervisors to set goals for improvement that have been approved by the PFS Director. Additional duties include oversight of Outsource companies used by PFS and work as a liaison on client accounts.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Manager will ensure operational proficiency of assigned areas through effective communication, planning, and organization of the function and resources available.2. Through leadership and periodic evaluation, the manger will work with his/her staff to accomplish the goals set forth by the System, Department and Customer base of the System Entity and/or Department.3. Maintains current procedures and guidelines to ensure competent delivery of services and appropriate routing of patients and financial and clinical records.4. Maintains current policy and procedure manual for PFS Patient Accounts.5. Ensures accurate and timely completion of all financial and medical forms.6. Ensures accurate and timely billing and collections.7. Keeps informed of third party reimbursement policies and collection laws.8. Establish monitoring techniques to assure compliance with company standards.9. Assure highest level of automation and technology by using all authorized resources.10. Promote interdepartmental communication and cooperation to enhance patient experience, transactions, business services' effectiveness and performance.11. Demonstrates effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination of intra-department activities and inter-department integration. Keeps current on leadership development for self and staff. Holds staff accountable to performance standards and set goals.12. Keeps daily focus on A/R trends and action steps needed to keep A/R clean13. Works with PFS billing supervisor on billing scrubber efficiency.14. Works with PFS supervisors on improved employee/customer satisfaction.15. Responsible for the overall compliance of Human Resource and administrative policies and procedures governing Lafayette General Medical Center with its objectives, within the proper lines of authority.16. Responsible for the departmental policies and procedures governing assigned departments.17. Recognizes their role in successful and effective Corporate Compliance program to assist the employee in upholding the Code of Conduct.18. Promotes care activities in the accreditation and licensing processes administered by Joint Commission and State Boards. Promotes professional standards of care for affiliated Boards.19. Initiates, reviews, and approves justifiable requests for new equipment; new and renewed programs, staffing, and other matters that directly or indirectly affect patients, personnel, and the public.20. Reviews monthly incident, activity, and productivity reports for assigned areas, monitoring for emerging patterns and to provide applicable information to others.21. Participates in administrative and/or management staff, mandatory programs, and classes. Conduct department meetings regularly.22. Keeps self-visible and accessible to clinical, ancillary, and supervisory staff.23. Actively participates on hospital committees to promote integration and synergy of hospital wide goals.24. Establishes and maintains membership in applicable professional and/or technical organizations, health care related associations and community groups. Participates in seminars, conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs.25. Inspires confidence by performing and communicating in a professional, courteous and caring manner.26. Encourages open, timely and candid communication, as well as collaboration among employees,27. Departments and physicians thus fostering and maintaining positive working relationships.28. Maintains confidentiality and is ethical in manner when dealing with physicians, staff, patients and visitors.29. Responsible for organizing managing and coordinating interdepartmental activities to maintain prompt, efficient, professional services.30. Ensures that staff meets necessary educational, certification and license requirements for their position.31. Performs personally (or through managers / supervisors) annual merit appraisals for their employees; monitors staff performance; provides direction, motivation and recognition of staff.32. Assures that the area of responsibility provides an orientation and training program for new hires of sufficient depth and duration to prepare them for their responsibilities.33. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or support as appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his or her assigned areas.34.
