DescriptionDawson, a K-12 independent school of 535 students
located east of Boulder on a beautiful 112-acre campus, seeks a
Director of College Counseling to counsel Upper School students
about the college admission process, coordinate college entrance
exam testing, write recommendations, nominate students for
scholarships and awards, provide informational counseling and
programs for families, meet with college representatives, and teach
college counseling classes. Dawson is a growing and passionate
educational community dedicated to the healthy development and
education of all of its students.The approximate start date for
this position is July 1, 2023.

Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Previous college counseling experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong
organizational ability and the ability to meet deadlines
Strong familiarity with US and international colleges and
universities and an eagerness to nurture and maintain relationships
with admissions staff at those schools
Personal warmth and friendliness
Attitude that exemplifies teamwork and personal responsibility
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters

Duties
Report to Director of Upper School
Work closely with the College Counseling team to coordinate work
assignments
Prepare Dawson Profile for publication
Conduct College Counseling Parent Night meetings
Meet 1-1 with seniors and juniors
Teach College Counseling class during fall semester for seniors and
during spring semester for juniors
Assist students with the packaging of college applications
Coordinate college entrance exam testing including serving as a
Test Center for College Board (PSAT, SAT, AP) and ACT
Meet with college admissions personnel during visits to Dawson;
coordinate student participation in college visits; cultivate
positive relationships with college admissions offices
Participate in professional development workshops both locally and
nationally when possible
Track and report student's college acceptances and scholarship
offers
Communicate frequently with parents regarding college counseling
deadlines and other matters
Assist in school-wide activities
Serve as faculty advisor for Senior Projects
Serve as student advisor
Teach classes as assigned by the Upper School Director/Head of
School
Participate in class trips and Winterim
Serve on Upper School lead team
Additional duties as deemed necessary by the School
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and relevant skills.
