qualified Med/Surg RN in Lafayette, Louisiana, 70503! Pay

Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours
Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty required License: Compact
or state license required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS preferred -
NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - Neuro surgery experience required -
Blood product administration - PICC line management - Pre/Post
neuro surgery experience - Starting IVs - Surgical drains
management - Chest tubes management - Isolation precautions
experience Description: You are being submitted to a position in a
commonly impacted area for hurricanes. The hurricane season runs
from June 1 to November 30, but storms can occur outside of that
window. Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, you
may be assigned to an Emergency Team. There will be an expectation
to stay at the facility until after the storm passes or to be part
of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be
relayed during each storm as impacts vary. By signing your travel
contract, you accept this and will report as assigned by your
immediate unit manager if a storm occurs. You should not apply
during this hurricane window if you are not comfortable with these
conditions. Patient Diagnoses include multi-trauma, seizure,
gunshot wounds, falls, traumatic brain injury, stroke, sepsis,
psychiatric conditions, epidural hematomas, epidural hemorrhage,
cerebral edema, encephalopathy, and ortho-related trauma that is
not elective. This is a major trauma unit. Special procedures
include craniotomy, spinal fusions, open reduction and internal
fixation, muscle flaps, skin grafts, amputations, intramedullary
nails, external fixators, and spinal stimulators. You will be
required to float to other inpatient units as needed. Scheduling
requests cannot be guaranteed. Hourly requirements include every
other holiday. Staffing ratios are approximately 6 patients per
nurse during days and nights. Daily census is around 24 patients.
Additional unit information includes interdisciplinary support from
physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy,
and unit secretary. Special equipment includes traction devices,
PCA pumps, JP drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, ortho braces, hemo
vacs, central lines, tracheostomy tubes, PEG tubes, and NG tubes.
Please ensure that your certifications are current and valid before

information for two manager or supervisor references will be
