Registered Nurse (RN) | Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Location: Lake Charles, LA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,308 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/19/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PICU RN in Lake Charles, Louisiana, 70601! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred License: State or Compact RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with charting systems required - Must have travel experience Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The nurse will work a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM. Rotating weekends are required. No on-call duty is required. The nurse may float to other areas when census is down. Candidates must possess current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Experience in managing pediatric patients with acute or chronic conditions is essential. The nurse will be responsible for various skills, including administering medications, monitoring patients, and performing procedures. Ideal candidates will be familiar with hemodynamic monitoring and the care of ventilated patients. Knowledge of pediatric dosage calculations and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias is important. Experience in central line care, arterial line management, and phlebotomy is required. The unit accommodates adolescents, infants, and pediatric patients with respiratory diseases, trauma, and other critical conditions. The daily census is 2 patients with a maximum of 5 beds available. Interdisciplinary support from various healthcare professionals is available in the unit. Candidates should maintain minimum requests for time off, especially in the initial weeks of assignment. Applicants can expect to work some holidays as needed.
