Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Reports to: Vice
President of Behavioral Health Revised: May 2024 Department:
Behavioral Health FLSA: Exempt JOB PURPOSE: The Psychiatric Mental
Health Nurse Practitioner (PMNNP) will provide outpatient
psychiatric evaluation and medication management services. The
PMHNP will work in coordination with outpatient counseling services
to provide psychiatric services to adult and youth clients with
behavioral health issues. Essential Job Functions include, but are
not limited to: Satisfies Core Competencies Accepts responsibility
for meeting the standards of the professional, ethical, and
relevant legislated requirements. Knowledgeable of Federally
Qualified Health Center (FQHC) standards of care and requirements.
Responsible for functioning according to organization privileges.
Patient Evaluation and Treatment Assess, diagnose, and treat
adults, adolescents, and/or children experiencing symptoms of
behavioral health disorders. Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue
drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral
disorders in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement
and the state’s Nurse Practice Act. Collaborate with counselors,
social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate
client care. Counsel clients during appointments, as necessary.
Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment
plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment
interventions. Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for
clients to provide information on general physical. condition and
mental disorders. Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and
significant others on client’s conditions and treatment when
clinically appropriate. Prepare and submit assessments, progress
notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders,
insurance companies, etc.) as required. Documentation and
Development Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an
accurate and timely manner. Collaborate with a broader team of
physicians, psychologists, and nurses to assess and adjust
treatment plans. Coordinate and communicate with case managers and
other stakeholders about treatment and care. Required Education:
Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric
nursing. Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program
specializing in psychiatry/mental health. Skills, Licensure, and
Knowledge Requirements Must be certified by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). An
unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered
nurse (APRN) in the state of Louisiana. Current DEA registration.
BLS for healthcare provider is required. Physical Demands : The

terminal for an extended period. Travel or Special Requirements:
Driving during the workday, as well as local or out-of-state
travel, may be required to perform job duties. Tuesdays: 12pm - 4pm
Wednesday - Friday: 7:15am - 5:45pm Saturday: 8am - 12pm
