Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/30/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Days, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 2 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a day shift ICU Med-Surgical position in Alexandria, LA, caring for a mixed cardiac and medical critical care patient population. Details - Hospital-based mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting - Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients - Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM - Every other weekend required - No on-call requirement - No floating required - 13-week contract Requirements - Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand - BLS certification from AHA required - ACLS certification from AHA required - Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care setting - Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate - SSN required for consideration Additional Information - Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation - Administers medications and treatments per protocol while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness - Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families - Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided - Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers - All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days - New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed for both organizational entry and Critical Care Department-specific requirements - BSN is preferred but not required - New graduates will be considered for this position - Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility American Traveler Job ID P-684678.
