The organization is responsible for designing, building and operating our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and responsible for all of the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). We focus on smart growth with an emphasis on automation, data driven engineering, cost efficiency, and environmental sustainability.We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including the Microsoft Azure service portfolio, Microsoft 365, Dynamics, Xbox Live, and Microsoft Live services. Our portfolio is built and managed by a team of subject matter experts working 24x7x365 to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.The Telemetry Services Engineering and Operations team (TSEO) is accountable for the availability, security, service, and lifecycle management of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) that supply power and cooling to Microsofts global datacenters. Highly available and reliable telemetry is critical in ensuring the availability and performance of Microsofts Cloud and our customers worldwide.In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.ResponsibilitiesAs the Principal Program Manager for Software Telemetry, you will be accountable for driving the adoption and deployment of Microsofts Critical Environment software telemetry platform, ensuring that data centers hosting Microsofts customer data and workloads are sending regular, consistent, reliable data about industrial electrical and mechanical systems. Driving adoption of our platform is key the more data centers that use the platform, the more Microsoft knows about the critical environment systems that run our cloud. Driving technical advancement is key we are continuously learning, growing, and evolving our technical capabilities to gather more data, more quickly, and more reliably. Working across teams to achieve these goals is a must.You will work effectively across teams to deploy Microsofts critical environment software telemetry platform, ensure its expected operational parameters, and drive future improvements and enhancements to the platform. Youll work with Program Management, Software Engineering, Operations, and Engineering teams to achieve these goals.A successful candidate will possess a skillset that includes technical depth in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, a working knowledge of industrial-level electrical engineering and componentry, the ability to evangelize, deploy, and sustain software platforms, and creativity to find new and better ways to solve technical and process problems that continue to drive efficiency in all facets of the program. The candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Azure and possess strong written and verbal communication skills with at least some practical project management or program management experience. Experience with Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, Telegraf, and other message queueing systems is not mandatory but desired.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering Or equivalent working in an environment that monitors, operates, or maintains industrial control systems in mission-critical, 24x7x365, or other high-availability, infrastructure-intensive facilities
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 3+ years experience or equivalent with contemporary web services software platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Compute Engine (GCE), or similar
  • 3+ years experience and demonstrated working knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and/or Supervisory and Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and/or Building Automation Systems (BAS) including communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, BACnet)
  • 3+ experience with industrial electrical equipment, power delivery, air conditioning and related mechanical and control systemsPreferred Qualifications:
    • Proven ability to apply clear critical thinking in complex, stressful situations
    • Experience working across multiple time-zones and/or global programs spanning multiple geographies
    • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
    • Software development and/or Program Management experience deploying SCADA or other similar controls and telemetry systemsAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
