Position Title: Kinesiology: Assistant/Associate Professor of Athletic Training

Responsibilities :

The School of Kinesiology within the College of Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor/ Clinical Coordinator or Program Director in the Master of Athletic Training (MSAT) program seeking CAATE accreditation. The start date for the MSAT program is June 2021. This is a nine month tenure track position.

Faculty responsibilities include: Expected to maintain an active line of research and teach graduate courses in Athletic Training each semester. The candidate will be expected to serve on School, College, and University committees, mentor masters thesis students, and advise graduate Athletic Training students as well as pre-Athletic Training undergraduate students. A willingness to participate in shared governance and collaborate with other faculty and staff within the department, college, university, and community is essential.

Professional MSAT Clinical Education Coordinator responsibilities include: Help apply for CAATE accreditation and guide program through site visit; recruit students for MSAT program; plan, develop, implement, deliver, document, and assess all components of the curriculum and clinical experience; supervise and provide clinical instruction of athletic training students in clinical rotations. Oversight of clinical education rotations will include student assignments to clinical experience, clinical site/preceptor/student evaluations, preceptor/site selection and assessment, regular communication with preceptors, clinical site visits, preceptor training, and possible professional development for preceptors.

Professional MSAT Program Director responsibilities include: provide program planning and operation, provide program evaluation and assessment, lead and maintain programaccreditation, manage program budget, serve and lead search committees for Athletic Training program personnel.

Qualifications:

Required:

- An earned doctorate in the area of Athletic Training or closely related field is required.
- Must be a certified Athletic Trainer and in good standing with the Board of Certification
- Must be eligible for licensure with the Louisiana Medical Board of Examiners
- Teaching experience in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or Health courses
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in Athletic Training
- Evidence of active research in the field of Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, or Biomechanics

Preferred:

- Experience in the supervision and evaluation of Athletic Training students
- Administrative experience and familiarity with CAATE accreditation standards and processes.
- For the level of Associate professor, must have evidence of an established research line, active pursuit of external funding or secured external funding, and demonstrated successful university teaching.
