The successful candidate will have the ability to champion
Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) processes and systems for
PD's rigs and shops aligned with PD's HSE Strategy (short and
long-term). Establish and maintain world class HSE standards and
standards while actively coaching for consistent implementation and
execution. Demonstrate leadership and interact with employees at
all levels to provide HSE coaching and guidance to all levels and
positions. Provide hands-on involvement and modeling in the
workplace to correct deficiencies, un-safe conditions, at-risk
behaviors to ensure continual improvement and create a learning HSE
culture. Effectively communicate with supervisors, management, and
other leadership to address and resolve potential HSE systemic
and/or noncompliance issues.
- Understanding of drilling and shop operations to assist with
hazard, risk, and control identification and evaluation.
- Work to advance HSE Fundamentals by demonstrating leadership
with respect to risk assessment, observations & hazard
identification, Step Back and Stop Work, Incident Management and
Investigation, Learning from Incidents and Near Misses, Short
Service Employees & Competencies, and Critical Safety.
- Assist with the development and submission of HSE related
corrective actions (aka tasks in SAP); support supervisory and
management staff to timely track and verify closure of tasks.
- Educate and coach employees to consistently use the HSE
Fundamentals to PD's defined expectations.
- Collaborate in the development of and continuous monitoring of
HSE inspections as defined by HSE regulatory and company controls-
walk-arounds on-site with employees and self-inspections for the
crew that can be done in the absence of on-site HSE personnel.
- Continually monitor assigned rig and/or shop's HSE performance
to identify and communicate trends on a scheduled and consistent
- Assist with the training and coordination of rig/shop-based
emergency response drills.
- Educate and coach rig/shop management with incident
investigation to determine root and contributing cause(s) required
for the investigation and learning review board.
- HSE oversight of critical safety jobs involving for example,
permit to work, confined space entry, hot work in potentially
hazardous areas, lifting gear inspections, lock out tag out, man
riding, jobs creating open holes, fall hazards, high pressure,
safety equipment/systems and non-routine rigging/crane
- Allocate at least 70% of work time on location, engaging and
coaching crewmembers in safety conversations, identifying at risk
behavior, overseeing HSE aspects of high-risk jobs, evaluating
controls identifying and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Assist employees with developing and performing task specific
JSAs and requests for CTA revisions.
- Assist supervisors with planning and participate in crew safety
- Assist management with environmental inspections and compliance
to ensure Company, Customer and Regulatory Compliance.
- Assist, monitor, and verify compliance of the Short Service
Employee (SSE) process to ensure this process is effectively
implemented, maintained and that on-the-job training is being
provided to develop SSEs.
- Provide HSE oversight for Third Party personnel to ensure
compliance of standards, safe behaviors and safe conditions are
maintained. Verify that Third Party Equipment brought on-site has
been determined safe, fit for purpose, and is properly

specific HSE Bridging Document as directed by HSE Management.
- Actively participate in the Project Management methodology and
culture for idea development (charter - scope, objectives,
outcomes, milestones, goals, resources), roll-out (communication &
training), implementation (define consistent standard & feedback
process), execution (coaching to set expectations and mentoring to
set the expectation for the change), verification (compliance), and

Ability to understand and communicate details of HSE MS
Standards, Processes, Tools, and Guidelines.
Obtain and maintain specialized certification, licenses,
documents, and training as required by Company, Customer and/or
Regulatory, as applicable.
Ability to plan (Short- and long-term) and coach to drive
rig/shop safety performance and culture.
Ability to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement
and develop specific action plans.
Written and verbal skills to communicate and document HSE
information effectively for reports and presentations.
Excellent written communication skills for development of
reports and other required documentation.
Planning, problem-solving, organizational skills are required to
design a rig/shop visit plan and strategy efficiently and
effectively for assigned assets tailored to current operations
BS/BA degree preferred in Safety related program.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant oilfield experience with a
proven excellent safety record.
3-5 years of experience in a heavy industry/construction
environment (drilling rig experience preferred) with a proven
excellent safety record.
Training experience and knowledge in the areas of HazComm,
Confined Space, Hazard Assessment, Rig Pass, STOP, accident
Working knowledge of OSHA.
Certification: Must have valid state-issued driver's license and
be eligible to drive Company vehicle including ability to meet
requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving
