ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. The Nurse Technician is responsible for a variety of Decision
Making/Problem Solving functions.
A. Demonstrates the ability to interact therapeutically with
patients and family members.
B. Practices cost effectiveness in each job-related activity and
C. Participates in meetings, in-services, committees, and
D. Demonstrates a proactive approach by suggesting changes/
projects to improve patient care and the work environment.
E. Is flexible in scheduling to meet the needs of the patient
F. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality.
II. The Nurse Technician is responsible for

A. Must meet clinical competencies specific for assigned
B. Maintains safe, neat and clean physical environment in
patient care area according to OSHA, safety and infection control
C. Takes necessary safety precautions.
III. The Nurse Technician is responsible for maintaining
A. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide
care appropriate to the age of the patients in the patient care
B. Provides unit specific patient care under the guidance of
C. Manual dexterity and motor coordination to perform such
skills as lifting and turning patients.
IV. The Nurse Technician will be responsible for participating
in Teamwork within the hospital.
A. Assist with unit specific tasks under appropriate
B. Assists other team members in completion of duties.
C. Displays concern for all staff.
D. Works effectively as team member.
E. Works in a collaborative manner with multiple caregivers.
F. Supports the goals and missions of LGMC.
G. Adheres to the policies and procedures of LGMC.
H. Seeks out learning opportunities by observing more complex
tasks performed by the licensed caregiver.
V. The Nurse Technician will be responsible for maintaining
communication skills throughout the hospital.
A. Maintains open communication with other team members
regarding patients' performance and progress.
B. Maintains the confidentiality of patient information from
C. Demonstrates ability and willingness to effectively
communicate both in writing and verbally.
D. Able to establish and maintain rapport with patients,
families, visitors, physicians, and staff.
E. Documents appropriately in the medical record including
completion of tasks and order entry.
Completion of high school education or equivalent required.
B. CPR - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained
within 30 days of hire.
C. Falls Prevention, OSHA, and Restraints must be completed
within 30 days of hire and renewable annually.
D. Pursuing a degree/licensure as a RN or LPN and must have
completed clinical competencies in Fundamentals of
Nursing from school attended.
1) Letter of recommendation from the Instructor is required
2) Copy of completed competencies or skills checklist is
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor
constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a
maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis
- May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving
patients as well as walking about from patients' rooms, as well as
to and from various hospital areas
